How to do girl's hairstyles : How to do a Side Braid Flip 7-10 min

Hi Ladies! Here's a little hairdo I saw on a little gal not too long ago, and just thought it was great, not only because it was adorable, but most importantly, you could do it in a reasonable amount of time! Please forgive the grumpy face we have pictured here. We are a real life family, full of grumps and bumps, and it was one of those mornings. She did consent to pictures, although with a sigh and a "Oooooooookay!" Bless her little grumpy heart.

To start, I combed wet hair over to a side ponytail, with a side front part, and put the ponytail back behind the ear.

I then split her ponytail in half, and braided both sides, down the ends.

I then brought the braid ends up to the ponytail, ends out.

I took a clear elastic and wrapped it around to secure the braided ends. Don't mind me trying to take a picture while keeping my fingers in the elastic, for the sake of showing you what I was trying to do. The circulation did return, thankfully.:)

I finished it off with a cute little flower, sticking the clip down inside the elastic, and sprayed it well with hairspray. I also sprayed the ends and tried to fan them out around the flower, so they don't look straggly. You can also curl them real quick with an iron if they need some extra help, or pin them back using even the bow clip.

And we got a smile by the end........



How to do girl's hairstyles: Pull Through Angled Ponytail 7-10 Min

It's October already! The rain and wind are here, and it's bye bye to the sunshine for us! I have a TON sent in already, which can always go into the pool for the coming months, so if you aren't showcased this month, never fear, there's always a chance you will be later. You ladies are brilliant!!

Here's a fun easy little hairdo, since that's what we are all about. It's a series of 5 pull through ponytails, traveling at an angle across the back. Super easy, fast, and we think, pretty cute! If your daughter's hair is not long enough to keep pulling the ponytail into the next, just leave the ends out, and keep on with the pattern, it will still be cute!

 I started by dampening the hair, and then combing it all to the angle I'll be following while doing the pull through ponytails.

On the same angle, part off your first section, and create a pull through pony in the center. 

Part off your same similar size section, and include the first ponytail's hair, and do another pull through ponytail. 

 Follow this pattern across the back of the head. Again,if your daughter's hair is too short,leave the ends out, or space your ponytails closer together or farther apart, depending on what will look better.

 We finished up with 5 pull through ponytails, and left her ponytail over her shoulder.

And C'est Magnifique! If you have time, you can band off the ponytail in even sections, or curl it, whatever you feel like!

How to do little girl's hair: How to make a Fabric Rosette Headband Video Tutorial

I had a request from one of my readers to show how I made the headband I shared in an earlier post:
How to make a Rosette Headband. I should differentiate between the two, since that was an actual hairDO and this is how to make the actual headband. I had already had a video tutorial for it recorded, since we decided to make some for party favors for my 7 year old's birthday party. What luck!

My sweet 7 year old is the actual film technician again, so please excuse the slight bounciness and the stray finger that gets in there occasionally. We have to make do with the resources available to us!

Enjoy, and be careful with those hot glue guns......they are murder!

How to girl's hairstyles : The Mohawk or The Tiara 7-10 min

These two hairdo's have become my youngest girl's new favorite requests. (I think she just likes saying the names we've given to them really, since it's the only time she gets excited for me to do her hair lately.)

So here we have it. First:

The Mohawk

Basically, for both hairstyles, you are just parting the hair into four equal sections, and then putting each section into a stuffed bun. For the Mohawk, I did four equal sections straight down the middle of her head, just like, well, a Mohawk. The more stuffed in the hair, the better. You can even use bobby pins to secure them to her head better.

Spray well with hairspray, and she's done.

I personally like to call it the Horse Mane, since it reminds me of when horse's manes are done up for equestrian shows, BUT the other name has stuck in our house.

And next, we have:

The Tiara (or crown!)

(I bet you can't tell why this is a favorite either...).

We start by doing the same thing, but parting from front to back in equal sections, and putting in more stuffed buns. I found I use bobby pins to pull the stuffed buns together and fill in holes. We also put in these little clips in front. Add whatever works!

How to do girl's hairstyles: September's CREATIVE GENIUS!

Welcome to our first Creative Genius post! Our first 'genius' sent me pictures when I asked for Back to School pictures, and I was so in love with her work I asked her to be our first featured hairdo.  Her name is Julie Morton, and she has her own hair blog that she does for moms at school and in her neighborhood. You'll see why I was so impressed! This is her hairdo entitled:

Inverted Pull Through Updo

1.  Start by sectioning off a small square of hair in front.  Tie your elastic off to the right side of the square.

2.  Grab your Topsy Tail or comb for a Pull Through

3.  Once you've created your Pull through, tighten the elastic and smooth out the top with a comb.

4.  Now gather all of the hair back into a ponytail.

5.  Grab your Topsy Tail or comb again but this time you will insert it going up, instead of down.

6.  This will create an Inverted Pull Through.  Make sure to tighten your elastic and smooth out the hair with a comb. 

 7.  Now grab the rest of the hair and "Barrel Roll" it down to the head by folding the hair over itself and rolling it with your two index fingers inside the ponytail.

 8.  Once the roll has been created you will want to secure it down with some bobby pins. 

9.  When the bobby pins are tightly in, spread out the roll so that it creates a semi-circle.  

 

10.  Spray the hair with hairspray for hold and you're all finished.
