Little Girl's Hairstyles -Christmas Puffy Braids 5-7 min

OK, there's really nothing Christmasy about these puffy braids. But Christmas is right around the corner, we had to do some hair, and I was lucky enough to get a whole slew of Christmas bows this year from some really talented bow makers. SO, to show them off properly, here's some puffy braids to go with one of them. This little cutie is from FlowerzInHerHair. Amy, the talented one, has a great variety of hair accessories, so go and check her out, and I'll be putting up some more of her darling stuff in the coming weeks. Now onto the hair!
For these ultra simple and pretty darn quick puffy braids, I parted off the hair up front into four sections, starting off from a middle part. I go about halfway to her ears on the first four, then the rest of the way to the ears with the 3 sections behind. So basically, you are making 4 sections in the front, and then dividing them into 3 sections behind.
You can continue this pattern farther down her head, making the three go into two sections, etc. I will be posting another puffy braid that goes farther down the head soon to give you an idea. This is a fast, before school hairdo, that you can finish off with a ponytail, like I did here. You can also split the back into two ponys and braid them, or do a stuffed bun. It's a great way to get the front hair back and out of the way, and works great on just about any length of hair, and works especially well if you are growing out bangs.
Have a most wonderful Christmas my friends! I am grateful to be able to share my fun hobby with all of you, and appreciate your comments and support. I hope we can all reach out to those around us and make them all feel the love of our Heavenly Father, for that is truly the reason we are here. If you have any special Christmas stories you'd like to share, I would be happy to post them on here.Scroll down and see the fun Santa activities, and have a wonderful week!

Little Girl's Hairstyles -Braiding Variety 10-15 min

We needed some variety in our braids today, so we tried a couple of different ones. I actually saw this idea on another fabulous hair blog......back in the day when I was avidly searching for new hairstyles to try out! I found this one on Girls Hairdos. In the meantime, please enjoy this one. We rather like it.

I parted her hair in the front on the side, and then down the middle in the back, like this. This helps keep the braids a little more even. Then I put her hair up in two high ponys. I did wet the ponys thoroughly and put a little Gen. Paul Mitchell gel in.
I split the hair into three even sections. I did a regular (backwards) braid on one section. Next I did a fish tail braid, stopping about a third of the way down, and put in an elastic (I was in a hurry!), and then put in another elastic another third of the way down, and finished fish tailing the last third of the braid.
For the last section, I did a twist braid. I have videos on how to do a twist braid and a fish tail braid, under my Video Tutorials.
I sprayed each braid topside and underside with hairspray, and stuck in some cute bows!!
Just a note: She got a lot of compliments this day when we were out and about!

Little Girl's Hairstyles -The Thumbelina 7-10 Min

So...you may see lots of sites showing you how to do fabulous celebrity do's........but here, where dolls and Barbies reign supreme, I will demonstrate how to do the Thumbelina do'. My daughter received this cutie pie doll for her birthday and loves it to pieces, so this one is for you C.

Our model:
First I parted the front of her slightly damp hair in a side part, back to her ears.
Then I pulled all the rest of her hair, except what was parted off in front, back in a clip, up out of the way, since you'll be pulling the front hair underneath.
Comb the front pieces smooth and pull both sides down underneath.
Pull it tight here (and center it, unlike my picture here) and TRY to not grab the little hairs on her neck when you secure the two pieces together. This will make for a happier girl.
You'll want to pull it tighter than what I've shown here. I did pull this one out and did it over, but who knows why I don't have a picture of that. You want the front pieces smooth and tight and not going anywhere.
Front pieces nice and smooth and tight.
Next, part off your next section, angling up to the center, starting from behind her ear.
Comb both sides smooth, and gather together for a pony. On your last pull through on the elastic, only pull through partway, making a fan at the top. You want the fan large, but leaving a long pony in back, so do what you can with the length of hair you are working with.
Pull fanned hair out and spray. Hers fell down later, because her hair was a tad bit too wet.
I roundbrushed the back of her hair.
And took a large pink flower (just like Thumbelina's!) and stuck it in the large side of her headband. This is my fave from B&B's Buttons.
My other gal wanted the same--so here's the brunette version of Thumbelina. (Another cute B&B Button bow).
Just add wings and you are done!

Little Girl's Hairstyles -How to do a Inside Out Braid or Dutch Braid Video Tutorial

Alright ladies....this has to be my favorite video, not necessarily because of what I am trying to teach here, but because of my little gal, who is the star of the show. This was hairdo number #6 and video number #75 this particular day, (it's a big setup getting the stars ready for the videos, complete with bribery and art tools, so we try to maximize our time), and she was DONE, as you'll be able to tell by her parting comment. I just have to say that I enjoy doing my little gals' hair so much because this is when we chat and spend that necessary girly time together.

So don't be sad if you are expecting a fabulous teaching tool here, rather enjoy it for what it is....a moment to chuckle and appreciate these sweet little people. They are precious blessings and I'm so incredibly grateful for mine! Have a super day and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Little Girl's Hairstyles -Double Side Braid 7-10 Min

This is a great school do, since it's fast! Just a slight variation on the regular old side braid.
Gave her a side part, and dampened the hair.
I braided the smaller side into one braid.
I divided the larger side into two sections and clipped off the top section.
I braided the lower section, starting my braid up high in the section, by pulling the hair up when I began.
Start of lower braid.
Next I braided top section.
I clipped in a flower on the top braid. This adorable flower is from and B&B's Buttons and Bows. I love these colors. Go check out their flowers on their cute beanies!
I then round brushed the back of her hair and let it hang down.
And front view again.
