I LOVE Easter! It involves several of my favorite things:
Candy, chocolate candy, fancy dresses, fancy HAIR, and chocolate. So, getting my girlies all fancied up is really something I look forward to. Maybe this year I'll try fancying up MYSELF. Hmm. That's usually just a pipe dream, but as long as I get some candy (with chocolate) I'll be ok.
So here's a fancy hairdo for you moms who are setting aside a bit of time on Sunday just to do some hair!
For this number, part off the hair in four sections. Make a center part to her neck, then one crosswise from ear to ear. Clip off two sections like shown, diagonal from each other. Of course, having the hair damp is my preference here. I figure if you are putting in the time to do this, it should last through the day and still look swell.
Starting at the middle of the front unclipped section of hair, take a small angled portion to begin your french braid. You want to angle the braid to loop away from the part initially, but you'll be angling it back to the part the closer you get to the cross section.
I did an inside out braid, but do whatever is easiest for you. Both will look good. I've done this with a french twist braid as well, and it turned out pretty darn cute too.
This is where you'll want to curve the braid toward the cross parting.
Once you braid in all the hair in that section, braid the hair in a regular braid for a few inches until it reaches the back section.
Start picking up hair again into a french braid, angling it away from the center part again.
Curve it back toward the part when you get closer to her neckline.
Whenever I am joining two braids, like I do with this hairstyle, I like to braid it down an inch or two past her hairline. This helps keep the baby hairs out of the elastic when you do bring them together.
Finish the other side in the same manner, only opposite directions, laying the braid over the top of the other.
Join them together at the bottom, and you are done (well, unless you want to whip out the curling iron and curl that ponytail).

NOW, here's one of my VERY favorite hairdos of ALL time. This is a variation on the above hairdo, which I learned from Princess Hairstyles. This is from my youngest's birthday party, when it was tres necessaire to have super princess hair. If you are feeling adventurous, try this one out. It was a tad bit challenging, I have to say, but SO worth the effort.
